CERA journal and newsletter are all available
online. The journal is accessible through www.ceraj.com.
At least initially, only the CERA issues published in
2000 and later are available online. Not
only is CERA journal available online, it is available
through a variety of sources including the websites of
the major journal subscription services.
Institutions that subscribe through
subscription agents (EBSCO, Swets etc.) or belong to
OCLC, can access CERA journals through the EBSCO
Online, SwetsNet, and OCLC (collectively known as
aggregators). This is not only convenient for the
subscribing institutions, it also offers advantages to
users. Users of these sites are able to search across
the title, author, and abstract information for all of
the journals on these sites. Some of these aggregators
have over 3,000 journals from many publishers.
Being available online greatly
enhances the visibility of CERA in ways that may not
be immediately obvious to authors. In several cases
CERA resides within large aggregations of journals
from many publishers. Being a part of an aggregation
of journals also offers advantages to CERA. For
instance, in searching across 3,000 journals, if a
user hits results from CERA journal, he or she has an
opportunity to buy that article. Users will be able to
search across the author, title, and abstract
information of all of these journals. Even those who
are not currently subscribed to a CERA Journal will be
able to perform these searches. This way CERA journal
is more visible than every before. CERA journal is a
part of the growing online interchanges that are
shaping the future of new top-of-the-line journals.
CETEAM
is doing more to CERA in terms of visibility. CETEAM
has partnered with Technomic is participating in an
association of publishers called CrossRef. CrossRef
provides links from a reference in an
article to the full text of that reference regardless
of publisher (as long as that publisher is also
participating in CrossRef, most are). For
instance, if a CERA journal article is cited in a
Wiley journal, the person reading the
article online will be able to link from the
reference in the Wiley article to the full text of the
reference on the CERA Journal site. Again, the user
will have an opportunity to buy the CERA Journal
article through Technomic. For more information go to www.crossref.org.
Users of the CERA journal online
has all of the searching capabilities that most of you
have come to associate (expect) with the electronic
publishing environment (Boolean, keyword, proximity).
We also provide descent alert service. If you so wish,
you could be alerted (automatically notified through
Email), whenever a new issue of CERA Journal appears.
You could automatically search each new issue for
keywords and to obtain e-mail notification if
something is found.
Online subscribers can obtain
access to a new issue approximately two weeks before
it is published in print and mailed. This means
that readers will have access to the CERA online
journal from three to five weeks (depending on
location) before the print version reaches
them. Online subscribers have access to back
issues for as long as they are subscribed. If they
cease subscribing, they retain access only to those
issues for which they paid. Those who wish to can be
notified by e-mail (with a table of contents) when a
new issue is available online. Subscribers will not
have to wait for mail delivery. Subscribers overseas
will experience dramatically faster access to new
issues.
Online subscribers have access 24
hours a day and 7 days a week (24/7). There are no
limitations on the time that can be spent online by
each user.
