The Concurrent Engineering: Research & Application (also called CERA Journal) is the official journal of the CETEAM International. CERA was previously called "SARA" – in the expanded form "SARA" was the name for the International Journal of Systems Automation: Research & Applications (SARA)." SARA was founded in 1991 and was then the first official journal of CETeam International published in cooperation with the Ablex Publishing Corp., inc. of Norwood, NJ, USA. When SARA was founded, CETeam was (previously) known as the International Institute of Systems Automation (IISA), USA. IISA was formed then in 1990 to promote the interests of a worldwide research communities in Concurrent Engineering (CE) and Systems Automations.

The first issue of SARA (Vol. 1, No.1) under the sponsorship of IISA, USA was published in March 1991. After 2 years of its successful publication (8 issues), SARA was replaced/acquired by Academic Press, London, UK under a new Title -- The International Journal Concurrent Engineering: Research & Applications (CERA).

The first Issue of CERA (Vol. 1, No.1) was published in March of 1993. During the later part of the same year, IISA name was also changed to "International Institute of Concurrent Engineering." The change reflected the launch of its new CERA Journal exclusively devoted to topics and subjects on CE. Most recently, we have started calling International Institute of Concurrent Engineering by its short name CETEAM International. Since 1993, CETEAM International has been running the International Editorial Office for CERA Journal. Like previous years, Our CERA Editorial office is fully committed to providing the best quality professional services with regard to submission and processing of papers and their careful reviews, and prompt notifications. If you have not noticed before, this full name of CETeam International has been on the second page of every issue of CERA Journal since its inception in March 1993.

Concurrent Engineering: Research & Applications (ISSN 1063-293X) (abbreviated as CERA) was launched in1993 in collaboration with the Academic Press of London, UK as the sole CEteam’s International Journal. Academic Press of London published CERA for 2 years (8 issues). Latter part of 1994, Academic Press of London, went through some management restructuring. As a consequence, Academic Press of London decided to discontinue publishing a number of Engineering Journals including CERA even though it (CERA) was one of their top Journals and was doing very well. In January 1995, CETeam International passed on the publication and subscription right of CERA Journal to Technomic Publishing Corp., Inc., based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Technomic Publishing Corp., Inc. took the golden opportunity and happily continued publication of CERA starting with Vol. 3, No. 1 (March 1995) with the same name (title), ISSN number, and the theme. Since January of 1995, CERA has been published, distributed and marketed by Technomic Publishing based in Pennsylvania, USA.

Under the leadership of CETeam and Technomic Publishing Corp., Inc., CERA has done extremely well. Starting with March issue (volume 9, No. 1) of 2001, CERA became one of the first Engineering Journal to be available online. CERA has over 10 years of successful publication. Every well-known Institution and Libraries in the United States and the abroad are subscribing CERA. Today, CERA has become one of the most sought out best-in-class premier journal in the multidisciplinary field of Concurrent Engineering. Like previous successful years, CERA Journal is continued to be dedicated to promoting a better understanding of concurrency in enterprise modeling, information processing, integrated product development, and work-group computing.
