The journal (CERA) welcomes original papers on
state-of-the-art research in product development arising
from parallelism of its life cycle functions, and novel
applications and tools in the areas of Concurrent
Engineering (CE).
 |
The journal addresses
all basic tracks that enable CE including aspects
of information modeling, teaming & sharing,
networking & distribution, planning &
scheduling, reasoning & negotiation,
collaborative decision making, organization and
management of CE. |
 |
Emphasis is placed on
CE technologies that result in faster product
development, higher quality, lower costs, improved
productivity and better customer value. |
 |
Major research areas
include: CE process characterization and matrices,
enterprise modeling, multi-enterprise integration,
information sharing and collaboration, networked
collocation, tools for multi-media conferences,
distributed environments, corporate technical
memories, capturing design intent, CE languages
and tools, intelligent retrieval, virtual teams,
architectures, emerging standards and practices. |

- Manuscript Submission:
The journal will
publish only original, quality papers. Send one
original manuscript and three complete sets to:
 |
Managing Editor: Dr.
Biren Prasad at the Institute of Concurrent
Engineering, CERA Journal Dept., P.O. Box 3882,
Tustin, CA 92782, USA; Email: prasadb1@cox.net. |
 |
Along with the 3 hard
copies, please submit a computer 3 ½" disk
containing the formatted text, using Microsoft
Word or Word Perfect in an IBM/PC format, copies
of all Figures in *.GIF format and scanned color
Photographs in jPEG. Clearly mark the disk with
authors’ names and title of the paper printed on
the label. |
 |
Research briefs and
books for reviews can be submitted to any
Associate Editors. |
 |
Manuscripts are
accepted for review with the understanding that
the same work has not been and will not be
published nor is presently submitted elsewhere,
and that all persons listed as authors have given
their approval for the submission; further, that
any person cited as a source of personal
communication has approved such citation. Written
authorization may be required at the Editor's
discretion. |
 |
Articles and other
materials published in CERA represents the
opinions of the authors and should not be
construed to reflect the opinions of the Editors
or the Publisher. |
- Copyright Permission: Authors submitting a
manuscript do so on the understanding that, if it is
accepted for publication, copyright of the article,
including the right to reproduce the article in all
forms and media, belongs exclusively to the
Publisher. Responsibility for the accuracy of the
material in the manuscript, including appropriate
references to related work, lies entirely with the
authors. Copies of any letters granting permission
to reproduce illustrations, tables, or lengthy
quoted passages should be included with the
manuscript.
- Manuscript Preparation:
Manuscripts should be
typewritten, double-spaced, with one-inch margins on
all sides, using 8 1/2X11 paper, one side only.
 |
Each page of the
manuscript should be numbered and illustrations,
tables, and listings should be attached separately
at the end with an appropriate caption list. |
 |
One illustration or
table should appear per page. Articles should be
concise and in English. |
 |
Normally, manuscript
(including tables, charts and figures) should not
exceed 5,000 words (approximately 25 typewritten
double-spaced pages). |
 |
Page 1 should contain
the article title, author(s), affiliations, a
short form of the title (less than 55 characters
including letters and spaces), and the name,
complete mailing address, and telephone number of
the author to whom correspondence should be sent. |
 |
Page 2 should contain
a short abstract (200-250 words) and 5-10 relevant
key words. All acronyms should be spelled out
where first used. |
- Style:
The journal will use the style
described for IEEE Transactions.
- Tables and Figures:
Tables and figures should
be completely understandable independent of the text.
 |
Each table and figure
must be mentioned in the text, given a title, and
consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals. |
 |
The originals for the
illustrations, tables, and figures should be
enclosed when the paper is initially submitted.
Originals must be legible after reduction to a
maximum size of 5 inches wide by 8 high. |
 |
Color originals can be
published if warranted. Any illustrations supplied
as photographs must be in sharp glosses. |
 |
Number all original
artwork on their back with soft pencil including
identifying information such as title. |
-
Footnotes:
Footnotes should be used sparingly and indicated by
consecutive numbers in the text. Acknowledgements
grant numbers, or other credits should be given as a
separate footnote.
-
References:
All sources cited in the text must be
included in the reference list, and vice
versa. References should appear in a
separate bibliography at the end of the
paper, and numbered. In references, the last
name should be listed first followed with
Initials for the first and middle names for
the first author. Subsequent authors should
be listed with initials first, then the last
name. References should be complete with the
year title, publication, volume, and page
numbers. They should be readily accessible
to the readership. Below are examples of
entries for a paper, proceedings, and a
book, respectively.

Author
Biographies: Brief author biographies
with photograph will be printed at the end
of each paper. The biographical sketch is
limited to 100 words and should describe
the author(s) expertise, current position,
publications, and technical interests. The
publisher may edit submitted material.
|
-
Proofreading
and Reprints: Authors will receive page proofs,
which they should correct and return to the
Publisher within a week of receipt. Authors are
responsible for the cost of changes, additions, or
corrections other than printer's or publisher's
errors, although the Publisher may waive such
charges. Authors will also receive a reprint order
form. Reprints must be ordered when page proofs are
returned to the Publisher.
